Dragons and Drakes and Wyrms, Oh My!

Temera is not the first world to have dragons, so take a look at these other worlds...

Critical Role

From a group of "nerdy-ass voice actors" to a global phenomenon, Critical Role is live gameplay of Dungeons and Dragons. Currently in its fourth campaign (analogous to television seasons), this franchise has spawned multiple Dark Horse comics series, countless fan pieces, a charity foundation, and two Prime Video series (The Legend of Vox Machina and The Mighty Nein). Campaign 1's "Chroma Conclave" arc helped inspire some aspects of the chromatic divine dragons of Temera.

Game of Thrones

Daenerys Targaryen was a direct inspiration for Solumina. I wanted a "mother of dragons" figure with righteous fury and a headstrong attitude, and what better inspiration than Emilia Clarke's portrayal of Dany? The dragons of this show are more bestial than the intelligent dragons of Temera (save for some of the mortal chromatic dragons, who are offspring of the divine chromatic dragons).

Middle-Earth

J.R.R. Tolkien's world is an inspiration to all fantasy that followed and an homage to myths and legends before. The modern interpretation of what a dragon is would be worlds away if not for Tolkien's The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings (in addition to the multitudes of other tales written in and about Middle-Earth, but those are the most mainstream). Dungeons and Dragons would not exist if not for Tolkien's works, and Temera would not exist without Dungeons and Dragons.

Dragons are real! They just don't look like the  winged beasts of myth. In addition to the dragons present in folklore and myths from around the world, there are real fauna deigned worthy of the title "dragon." Check out these real-life dragons that exist in our world today!
